Here is a great date.
Café Matou, at 1846 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park is a French bistro with delicious food and a cozy atmosphere that can turn any cold fish into a hot dish.
Their Moules marineres appetizer has had more written about it than Britney Spears' hairless nooni, so we had to try it. Sweet steamed mussels with a wine, lemon, garlic and peppercorn sauce fired on every taste bud.
I have never eaten a short rib before in my life. How dare I be deprived! It was so tender and flavorful that I had to stop talking to my date and concentrate on the flavors. Luckily his pork special was equally engaging, so I don't think he was offended.
They have a full bar and a great wine list. Also, they have a 'Raid the Cellar' night with great cheap wine deals for the frugal-minded.
I have had dd they are wonderful as well, but I like to pop over to Margie's Candies at 1960 N. Western Ave. for a giant ice cream sundae. The change of venue offers your date the opportunity to make suggestions.
