PrideIndex.com, in conjunction with the House of Avant Garde, recently bestowed its Esteem Awards upon local and national individuals and businesses—and Windy City Times is proud to have been named outstanding local newspaper for its coverage of Black LGBT-related issues. Among the other honorees are the Chicago Department of Public Health's Lora Branch ( Outstanding Female—Local ) , advocate Aaron Bowen ( Outstanding Male—Local ) , actress-singer Sheryl Lee Ralph ( Special Citation, Outstanding Service—National ) , activist Jasmyne Cannick ( Outstanding Female—National ) and the National Minority Council on AIDS ( Outstanding Social Service Organization—National ) .
