VOX® Vodka and Out magazine will honor interior designers and business partners David Kaufman and Tom Segal with the VOX/Out Voices of Style+Design Award. The industry award, created in 2001 by VOX Vodka and Out magazine, honors openly gay and lesbian individuals whose works have come to signify style, vision and design. The third of five honorees nationwide, Kaufman and Segal will receive the award at the Chicago Historical Society Aug. 5.
Kaufman and Segal are the visionaries behind Kaufman Segal Design, a cutting-edge Chicago design firm that specializes in high-end residential interiors. With backgrounds in interior design and architecture, Kaufman and Segal bring vast knowledge and refined style into the home. In 2000, they received the Fashion Group International's Style Makers and Rule Breakers Award. Later this fall, their work will be seen on HGTV's Designer's Challenge.
In addition to leading the way in the design industry, Kaufman and Segal are also leaders in the Chicago community. Both serve on the board of directors of Harrington College of Design. Kaufman also volunteers for Open Hand Chicago and the Hearts Foundation, while Segal serves on the board of directors of Howard Brown Health Center and donates time to Who's That Girl.
'Kaufman and Segal masterfully blend traditional and contemporary aesthetics to create environments that reflect their client's unique style,' said Nicole Ertas, senior brand manager for VOX Vodka. 'VOX prides itself on quality and style, so we are pleased to recognize Kaufman and Segal for their visionary designs.'
'Tom and I are thrilled to be receiving this award,' said David Kaufman. 'We have worked very hard to build a company that not only specializes in interior design, but one that is proud to support alternative lifestyles and human rights in the United States and around the world.'
