Rustin film screeningat Center Feb. 28
Brother Outsidera film about the life of the '60s Black gay activist Bayard Rustinwill screen at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, on Monday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m.
The film has been shown at The United Nations, The Kennedy Center and for members of Congress, as well as at hundreds of film festivals, community forums, and schools; it is also being used widely in diversity presentations at corporations, law firms and other workplaces.
The Chicago Urban League and WTTW-11 are co-sponsoring the showing, and there will be a post-screening discussion with filmmaker Bennett Singer.
Facets anti-bullying series
Facets Multimedia, 1517 W. Fullerton, will starting screening films that are part of the "No Bullies, Please!" series Tuesday, March 1, at the facility and at specific Chicago-area schools.
The first of the programs, "Sticks and Stones," is targeted for first- through third-graders. "Actions Speak Louder" is for fourth- and fifth-graders, while, for middle schoolers, "Teasing Texts: Don't Hit Send!" covers the too-familiar scenarios of text bullying and unwisely-sent e-mails.

Stevie Nicks, Ricky Martin in town in April
Legendary singers Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart will stop Saturday, April 9, at the United Center, 1901 W. Madison, as part of their joint tour.
In a press release, Stewart said, "With Stevie on board our audiences are in store for an evening of pure rock & roll music. I'm already thinking about which of my old favorites to bring back and, vocally, I think we've both begun thinking about which songs might be great fun and well-suited for a duet or two."
Also, out singer Ricky Martin will be local in April. He will appear at the Allstate Arena Tuesday, April 19, as part of his "Musica+Alma+Sexo" world tour. Tickets are $40.50-$126.50.

'Milly's Spring Spectacular' March 20
"Milly's Spring Spectacular: Family Style"an installment of "Milly's Orchid Show"will take place Sunday, March 20, at the Park West, 322 W. Armitage. The show starts at 3:30 p.m.; the parade lines up at 3:15 p.m.
"Milly's Orchid Show," a show featuring eclectic acts, introduced the world to such individuals as David Sedaris, and has featured performers such as Poi Dog Pondering and Blue Man Group. This year's show includes flamenco dancing Wendy Clinard and her family and the Roberto Clemente High School steel drum band, among others.

Cinema Q film series in Chicago
The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the Queer Film Society, the Center on Halsted and Chicago Filmmakers are presenting Cinema Q, a new film series celebrating outstanding LGBT movies made in Chicago.
The free screenings will take place on four WednesdaysMarch 16, 23, 30 and April 6in the Chicago Cultural Center 's Claudia Cassidy Theater, 78 E. Washington, at 6:30 p.m. All screenings will feature a discussion and Q&A following the film. This series contains films with mature subject matter. Viewer discretion is advised.
