Lakeside Pride's 'Once Upon a Time' Nov. 14

Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles will host "Once Upon a Time"—an evening of music, featuring selections inspired by or composed for fictional or theatrical works—on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at Preston Bradley Center, 941 W. Lawrence Ave.

Some of the slated selections include Peter and the Wolf, The Sorcerer's Apprentice and songs from Into the Woods.

Gay chorus to get funky in Nov., Dec.

Chicago Gay Men's Chorus ( CGMC ) will put on shows with a funky twist, incorporating songs by Pearl Bailey, James Brown, Donny Hathaway and many more in "Miracle on Thirty-Funk Street."

This show marks James J. Morehead's first holiday show with the entire CGMC chorus of 150 singers, dancers and a six-piece band.

There will be three shows, including a Nov. 29 preview at Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., at 3 p.m.; a show Friday, Dec. 4, at Harris Theater for Music & Dance, 205 E. Randolph St., at 8 p.m.; and a show Saturday, Dec. 5, at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts- 9501 Skokie Blvd., Skokie, at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $28 for the Nov. 29 show, and $20-$35 for the other events; visit cgmc.org or call 773-296-0541.

Martin and Short at Rosemont Nov. 22

Legendary actors and comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short are teaming for a night of live comedy and music.

"An Evening You Will Forget For the Rest of Your Life" will include stand-up, musical numbers, film clips and conversations about their show business experiences.

Fashion group's gala Nov. 12

Fashion Group International of Chicago will host its "Night of Stars" gala on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago, 160 E. Pearson St.

Nate Berkus ( Stargazer Interior Design Award ), Badgley Mischka ( Stargazer Platinum Award ) and Neiman Marcus ( Stargazer Retail Award ) are among those being honored.

Miley Cyrus, Flaming Lips show Nov. 19

The act Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz has revealed details behind its special limited-run club tour.

The band—featuring multi-platinum selling artist/entertainer Miley Cyrus and the rock band The Flaming Lips—will hit the road starting Nov. 19 in Chicago at the Riviera Theatre. The Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz Tour will visit five additional cities with dates lined up in New York City, Washington, D.C., Detroit, Philadelphia and Boston.

Cyrus released her new album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, for free on Aug. 30, following her appearance as host of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

Fourth 'Boystown' book out Nov. 13

The fourth installment of Jake Biondi's Boystown book series will be out Nov. 13. Signed copies will be available on the website JakeBiondi.com Nov. 5.

The cover for the book, which was designed by Michael Vargas, features many of the "Boystown Boys" whom readers have come to associate with the series.

Boystown began as an online story released in installments, each ending with a cliffhanger. In 2013, Biondi published the first 10 "episodes" in book form as "Boystown Season One." Season Four will be available at bookstores across the country as well at online at Amazon.com, BN.com and iTunes.
