AIDS Run & Walk Sept. 26 at Soldier Field
This year's AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, hosted by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago ( AFC ) and benefiting 35 other community organizationsknown as CommunityDirect partnerson Saturday, Sept. 26, at Chicago's Soldier Field at 8 a.m.
This year's message is "Put your foot down." In a statement, AFC President/CEO John Peller said, "We want supporters to put their foot down and make a difference in this epidemic, especially among communities most impacted by HIV."
The 35 CommunityDirect partners that will raise funds through this year's event will receive 90 percent of all money raised by their teams. Last year, the 32 CommunityDirect teams raised a combined $270,000.

Branden James show Sept. 24
The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., will present "On Stage With … Branden James"an intimate cabaret performance by the America's Got Talent finaliston Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
Part of the Auditorium Theatre's "Made in Chicago" Music Series, this unique concert experience has James performing alongside Australian cellist/musical director James Clark as well as singer/YouTube sensation Jess Godwin. James and company will perform an evening of classical, Broadway, operatic pop, and Top 40 music.

a-ha marks 30 yearssince 'Hunting'
The Norwegian trio a-ha has unveiled Hunting High and Low: 30th-Anniversary Super-Deluxe Edition.
The set contains four CDs and one DVD, plus a 60-page hardback book filled with rare photos and stories about the making of the album. The set includes a remastered version of the original album, which has sold more than 10 million copies since its 1985 debut.
The DVD in the Hunting High and Low set contains an unseen slightly alternate cut of the 1985 "Take On Me" video as well as the 1984 version and, of course, the "classic" video.
'The Halloween Gathering' Oct. 24
The Chicago Cultural Mile Association has announced its plan to sponsor a first-of its-kind Halloween spectacle on the Chicago Cultural Mile.
The Halloween Gathering, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, aims to gather Chicago's creative communities for an all-day festival, culminating with a festive nighttime parade to which the City of Chicago and neighboring communities are invited.
The Halloween Gathering event will officially begin at 2 p.m. with The Halloween Gathering Festival. ( The festival will also host a children's costume parade on The Ribbon in Maggie Daley Park. ) The parade will commence at 6 p.m.; it will travel north on Columbus Avenue from Balbo Street to Monroe Street, and will be led by 13 of Chicago's most influential creative leaders, who will be honored as "Creative Spirit Fellows."
