Thanks to all of those who came out in support of Sunday Night Hustle at Trace. This will hopefully be the beginning of many great nights in this small loft venue, with music provided by DJ Doug Brandt and guests. I was smitten to be spinning the same night that Frankie Knuckles and David Morales would be in town (two of my faves). www.djdougbrandt.com .
Here are a couple of labels that continue to provide quality entertainment to move our feet, touch our lives and excite our eyes.
Music Plant/Vinyl Soul (www.vinylsoulrecords.com/press.html)
Music Plant, which was formerly Vibe Music, began in 1993 as a management company. George Andros aka Georgie Porgie, a hot writer, producer and recording artist, has his pulse, heart and soul in dance music. Along with DJ Terry Hunter, they have managed to release a string of dance hits, most notably, 'Life Goes On,' which shot to No. 1 on the international dance club charts and 'Love Is Gonna Save The Day,' which has also received great accolades.
In addition to their longevity, spanning 10 years in the industry, they have expanded by adding a Latin division, with the success of Papo Sanchez Y Su Fuerza Y Alma. Metal Works, with the release of Chicago's own DJ Teri Bristol, 'Teenage Wasteland.' Congratulations Music Plant, for providing us with beautiful music and artistry.

NRK Records (www.nrkrecords.co.uk)
Conceived in 1996 by founders Nick Harris and James Redg Weeks, what once began as a DJ agency turned into a label, channeling their energy into producing quality underground dance music after seeing too many labels afraid to shake up the sound system. Their first release, 'House n Kontrol,' by Nelson Rosado, put them on the map and their second, 'Paradise,' by Nick Holder, sealed the fate of many releases to come.
By 1997, the label established itself with a roster of talented DJ's and artists that include, Nick Holder, Ian Pooley, Miguel Migs and H-Foundation. The late '90s saw the birth and creation of 'nite:life,' unveiling a new breed in mixed compilations that allowed DJ's to play their favorite tunes in a fresh and innovative style.
