River Grove, Ill. — The Triton College Performing Arts Department will present "Another Bone" by Cathy Earnest, a local Chicago playwright and a senior network playwright at Chicago Dramatists. "Another Bone" is a new play in development and will be performed as a semi-staged reading at Triton.
"Another Bone" tells the story of Marie, a widow of 9/11 who wrestles with the past she thought she had put behind her until the bones of her deceased firefighter husband finally comes home five years after the Twin Towers have fallen. The play was a finalist in the O'Neill Theater Center 2012 National Playwrights Conference.
As part of Triton's inaugural "Emerging Voices Project," the production allows for the Triton College theater community to work with professional playwrights and collaborate with one of the area's premier play development companies.
"Another Bone" cast and crew members include Triton students, faculty, community members and professional guest artist Kurt Naebig, a Chicago-area theater veteran who formerly served as artistic director of the Theatre of Western Springs and is now a member of the Buffalo Theatre Ensemble. Naebig has performed in such shows as "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "The Elephant," as well as has appeared on such TV shows as "Chicago Fire," "The Chicago Code," "Prison Break," and "ER."
The cast includes Eliza Shin (Chicago), Linda Latuszek (Glenview), Bobby Halvorson (Oak Park), Tracy Ewert (River Forest) and Shakana Polk (Maywood) as the narrator; while Kevin Washington (River Forest), Vicki Whooper (Bellwood), Ian Zywica (Chicago) and Marcella Nowak (Glen Ellyn) make up the behind-the-scenes crew for the production. Amy V. Fenton of Oak Park is directing.
The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 in Cox Auditorium (Room J-108) of the Fine Arts Building. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for Triton students, faculty, staff and seniors.
