Lyric Opera of Chicago will celebrate its history and future on Saturday, Nov. 1, with a star-studded 60th-anniversary concert at the Civic Opera House, 20 N. Wacker Dr., beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Actress Jane Lynch will emcee the event.
Lynch will mix it up with an internationally acclaimed roster of musical artists including Lyric creative consultant Renee Fleming and jazz legend Ramsey Lewis, plus opera stars Stephanie Blythe, Johan Botha, Christine Goerke, Susan Graham, Quinn Kelsey, Mariusz Kwiecien, Ana MarÃa MartÃnez, Eric Owens, Marina Rebeka and Amber Wagner.

'The Laramie Project'at NU through Nov. 2
The Laramie Project, a chronicle of the life of a Wyoming town following the 1998 kidnapping and murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard, will be staged at Northwestern University through Nov. 2.
The production, which Moises Kaufman and the members of the Tectonic Theater Project wrote, will launch the Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts' 34th mainstage season on the University's Evanston campus.
The Laramie Project production performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday; and 2 p.m. at the Ethel M. Barber Theater, 30 Arts Circle Dr., on the University's Evanston campus.
Tickets for the Wirtz Center's "The Laramie Project" are $25 for general public; $22 for seniors over 62 and Northwestern faculty and staff and educators; and $10 for full-time students with valid IDs ( at the door ) or $5 tickets exclusively for full-time Northwestern students on advance purchase. 'The Nutcracker' at Chopin Theatre Nov. 6-Dec. 28
The House Theatre of Chicago brings holiday cheer with its fifth annual return of its all-original, family-friendly The Nutcracker playing at the The Chopin Theatre Upstairs Theatre, 1543 W. Division St., Nov. 6-Dec. 28.
Company Member Tommy Rapley reprises his role as director and choreographer of the holiday production based on the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann.
