Acclaimed cabaret duo Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael reunite for their new show The Piano Men, which pays tribute to the music of famed pianists Barry Manilow, Billy Joel and Michael Feinstein. The Explorers Club, Windy City Playhouse, through April 17. Farce isn't easy, even when it revolves around a fraternity of Victorian Scientists, but David H. Bell's direction keeps men, women, flora, fauna and libations flowing at a lively pace. MSB
The Matchmaker, Goodman Theatre, through April 10. Thornton Wilder's delightful combo of traditional farce and comedy-of-ideas became the musical, Hello, Dolly! The original play is charming in this delicious production with Kristine Nielson as Dolly Gallagher Levi and Allen Gilmore as her pigeon, rich curmudgeon Horace Vandergelder. Joyful! JA
