August 13 , 2013—CHICAGO: The Windy City Rollers All-Stars are in the midst of an incredible

roller derby season. The All-Stars are gearing up to fight hard against one of the nation's top roller derby teams, the Minnesota RollerGirls (#17) on August 24 at the UIC Pavilion. In the past, this match up between Minnesota and Windy City has delivered some of the most anticipated and avidly discussed games of the International roller derby community. Both teams hit hard and fight to the finish; in 2012 when the teams played one another they broke a milestone in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) having the first-ever tie game in the sports history.

In a change of pace, the first game of the night will feature the the All-Stars, who experienced some tremendous wins and intense nail-biters last month at the Golden Bowl III Invitational, will take to the track against the Minnesota RollerGirls (#17). Following in the second game of the evening, the B Team, the Second Wind (unranked) who are coming off a fresh loss, will face challengers the Minnesota RollerGirls B Team (unranked).

The WCR All-Stars, ranked #9 on the WFTDA international rankings, are fresh off an exciting weekend where they swept the other teams from Denver, Austin and San Francisco to win the Golden Bowl invitational undefeated. This is an incredibly exciting season for the All-Stars, who, earlier in the season, traveled overseas for the first time to host a training clinic and play games against the London Rollergirls and the Berlin Bear City Roller Derby. As a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, the All-Stars are currently accepting donations in order to fund costly travel expenses.

UIC Pavilion is located in downtown Chicago at 525 S. Racine Ave., and easily accessible from I-290, I-94, and the Blue Line. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the action starts at 6 p.m.

Tickets are available online at www.windycityrollers.com/contact-us/tickets, Ticketmaster, the UIC box office, or from any WCR roller girl. Groups should email ticketsales@windycityrollers.com for group ticket information and sales.

Mark your calendar, the Windy City Rollers only have ONE home game left in the 2013 season on Oct. 19 at UIC Pavilion.
