WASHINGTONThe Washington DC-based all-male gay dance company, the DC Cowboys, has just launched their 2004 calendar. This fundraising effort is an important aspect for the dance company which enables them to continue their mission of providing high quality entertainment, at no cost, to non-profit organizations who are serving the gay and lesbian community in the fields of HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, etc.
The alluring, professionally produced DC Cowboys calendar is a 16-month calendar ( Sept. 2003Dec. 2004 ) . Each month's photos feature one or more of the dancers. The high-quality photographs, taken by up-and-coming D.C. photographer Scott Henrichsen, are artistic, provocative, and tastefully revealing.
In announcing the details about the 2004 calendar, Kevin Platte, artistic director, said, 'It's local boys ( D.C. and Baltimore ) taking their clothes off to raise money for a good cause.' Kevin added, 'This was an exciting, yet unique project for a performing arts organization of this nature. We were looking to create an impact on our community while getting some good 'exposure' on this worthwhile project.'
The calendars are being sold by individual DC Cowboy dancers, at all of their performance events, on their Web site, www.dccowboys.org, and at select retailers. The price is $10. In addition to ordering the calendar online, visitors to the site may also obtain information on the history of the organization, check the schedule for upcoming performances, read member biographies, and view the DC Cowboy's photo gallery.
