As some of you may know, I've been picking up a little extra scratch on the side as a trivia host at some of our loyal local homosexual watering holes ( forgive the borderline-upsetting imagery ). If you enjoy the general slant of this magazine and, in particular, the smartassery of this column, just wait until you hear me on the mic with a couple of few vodka sodas in me. All this can be yours each Wednesday at R Public House and each Thursday at The Glenwood. Bring your brains and livers, the two most vital organs for bar trivia. Oh, and I suppose you'll need your skin to keep it all in.
Catch Nightspots cover girl ( a few issues back ) Sami Grisafe, performing at Parlour On Clark, Thu., Feb. 20, with Linsea Moon Waugh. She makes me wish I were into ladies ... who are into men.
Of course, for a far less confusing musical/sexual fantasy, I can always openly lust over the dudes performing at The Sofo Tap's Untapped music series, closing with their last show Sat., Feb. 22, and featuring Nightspots cover boys Stephen Leonard, TJ Chernick, Scott Free, and many other talented folks who have yet to grace our cover. One day, my pretties.
Keith Elliott and Todd Kiech, producers of TPAN's Chicago Takes Off ( on hiatus until '15 ) tempt us Sat., Mar. 1, with The Tease, a new extravaganza for Chicago House with two live performances featuring burlesque and aerial acts. Their spectacularly produced stage shows never disappoint and always raise a much-needed buck ( or thousands ) for community charities.
Berlin's continuing commitment to art is stunning, both to consider and to behold. Grab some neon and stop by as the club is transformed into a blacklight poster of the most epic proportions. Glow on, glow-er.
And, yasssssssssss!, RuPaul's Drag Race kicks off season six this Mon., Feb. 24. Read Jerry Nunn's in-depth chat with Chicago fish Gia Gunn on page 12 and see all the little fishies at Chicago's official RuPaul's Drag Race viewing party at SPIN.
