First of all, Nightspots would like to welcome Mr. Dave Ouano to the staff. Dave will be handling both sales and photography for Nightspots and Windy City Times. If you've had your picture taken by me, you've almost certainly had it taken by Dave as well. He does great work and we're pleased as punch to have him on the team!
So please, people, do not freak out. There will be no new bar pictures in Nightspots itself until January 5, 2011. I've explaned this eighty times, but just in case it didn't seep in, this issue is all gift guide and next issue (Dec. 22) is all 2010 retrospective. Check out weekly layouts in Windy City Times and our Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/nightspots&; for all your photo-ing needs.
Which, of course, means that there are no pictures in this issue of the 12 Days of Christmas bar crawl. That might be for the better, come to think of it. It's not that often I get quite so messy in public. Hey, everybody's gotta shake loose from time to time.
Look in this week's Windy City Times for Dave's pictures of geNo's birthday at Cocktail and for Pubert's shots of The A-List's Mike Ruiz at Spin.
If you enjoy this week's feature entitled "Now See Here" on page 10, see me read it live at the Queer Noise open mic at New Wave Cafe on December 10. My internet's busted, so I can't drop you the address (I know it's on Milwaukee) and you'll have to look it up. Well worth it though. It will be a benefit for Howard Brown's Lifeline Appeal.
Special thanks to Heather Barstow for the Bea Arthur bag. I took it into Big Chicks for a few field shots of the bag in use and all the gays were genuinely intrigued. We at Nightspots love to intrigue people, and genuinely is our favorite way to do it.
So happy Holiday season, folks. Whether you buy, trade, make, re-gift, receive, donate or forgo, do it with peace and harmony in your soul. See you for the big NYE issue which will be 100% IN COLOR, BITCHES!!!
