Can it possibly be true? After the suck of the muck of the worst winter ever, is it REALLY the unofficial
kick-off weekend of summer? All signs point to yes. Strap on you drink bags and join me, will you, in this mega Memorial Day/IML/Bear Pride issue!
First off, you shoulda seen my original choice for the cover this week! Actually, you can see it in Jackhammer's ad. And it's all thanks to local photographer/designer/part-time barfly Chester Munro. Chester will be exhibiting the portraits he has taken over the years for Jackhammer in their back bar May 22-26. All framed work will be for sale. Come and take a look; it's amazing what he's gotten some of those Jackhammer bartenders to do.
Speaking of the Hammer, I stopped in to see the boys of Team Steam works raise lots o' cash for their part in Ride for AIDS this year. Catch page 26 for an uptowel shot you won't soon forget. If you want you own chance to get up their towels, and to up their level of fund-raising, stop in to Sidetrack on Wednesday, May 28 from 6-9.
Happy 11th anniversary to Scot's. Glad to see them come back, better than ever!
No visit to Chicago's leather scene would be complete without a stop into our three local leather watering holes ( leather holes sounded a but to vague ) Touché, Chicago Eagle and Cell Block. Be sure to chap up and pop in for some over-the-top, um, activity this weekend.
I was feeling just sexy enough this past Thursday, which was not sexy enough for Scarlet's 'I'm Too Sexy' party, part of the series sponsored by 103.5 KISS FM and ChicagoPride.
com. Personally, I don't like to be TOO sexy. You can't keep produce fresh around the house if you're TOO sexy. Know what I mean? Good, then maybe you can explain it to me...
Happy birthday to the lesbian lovefest
known as Shayna X and Larissa at Berlin. That's us getting ballerinafied.
And I had not had one drink. I did, however, eat a butercreme-frosted cupcake in one bite. I was truly inspired to be all I could be. Or at least ingest all I could ingest.
A special hello to Eva and Kris down at InnExile. I met these cute kids at the bar and we got to talking about the whole 'Who's cooler: Greeks or Italians?' debate that continues to rage. I gotta go Italian on this one, at the risk of having a bunch of Greeks teaming up on me. You know, on second thought...
Good luck to the kids at Taste Thursdays at Sin Nightclub, 120 W. Green St. in Bensenville. Sorry I couldn't stay longer. I hear the whole world showed up after I left. Story o' my life.
The ROTC girls put on an amazing show at Hydrate. But I don't have to tell you; you we're there. Well, it seemed like everyone on Earth was there. Small Earth.
Please have very much fun, make very good friends and be very, very safe this weekend and on into this crazy summer!!!
