More than 60 of the most accomplished teen historians from the Chicago area will represent Illinois in a national historical research competition next month.
Sixty-nine Illinois students will join students from across the nation at the National History Day (NHD) competition, which will take place at the University of Maryland in College Park June 13-16.
The projects developed by Chicago-area students cover subjects such as the Nazi march in Skokie and the Picasso sculpture in Daley Plaza. Among those competing are Tanya Jonsson, Brian Nunez, Felipe Rodriguez, Daianna Soto and Veronica Soto (East Aurora High School) for "Chicago Human Rights Ordinance" in the Senior Group Performance category.
