On Oct. 27, 1-4 p.m., the Learning Center at All Chicago Making Homelessness History will host four local experts in LGBTQ communities, homelessness, youth homelessness, fair-housing issues and cultural competencies at 651 W. Washington St., Suite 504.
In 2012, Chicago launched a community plan to end homelessness. The plan identifies youth experiencing homelessness as a strategic area of focus.
The Oct. 27 discussion will cover the current state of LGBTQ communities experiencing homelessness in Chicago; bring insight into how multiple approaches intersect; and highlight specific ways to create safe and inclusive spaces for LGBTQ individuals.
The Learning Center will welcome Kim Hunt, executive director of Pride Action Tank; Owen Daniel-McCarter, policy and advocacy director of Illinois Safe Schools; Imani Rupert, director of Broadway Youth Center; and Mike Ziri, director of public policy for Equality Illinois.
