TPAN to Host Annual Gala Dinner Sept. 9

Test Positive Aware Network ( TPAN ) , one of Chicago's longest-running HIV/AIDS service providing agencies, will host its annual gala, Aware Affair: Seeing Red, on Sept. 9 in the Crystal Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and raffle, followed by dinner and awards presentation hosted by Aaron Freeman. Afterward, jazz musician and comedian Lea DeLaria will entertain the crowd.
TPAN will honor four leaders who have made considerable contributions to the HIV and AIDS community. The Charles E. Clifton Leadership Award will be presented to Dr. Daniel S. Berger; Visionary Awards will be presented to State Representative Larry McKeon and TPAN healthcare partner Luck Care Center; and the Chris Clason Committed to Living Award will go to Chris Brown of the Chicago Public Health Department..
The 'Seeing Red' theme for the evening is intended to raise community awareness on issues involving the rising numbers of HIV/AIDS cases in the United States, decreased funding for agencies ( including TPAN ) and the lack of healthcare and other resources available to people living with HIV and AIDS.
