Otherworld Theatre Company, 3914 N. Clark St., has announced a special one-night-only performance of the sci-fi fantasy drag cabaret show Hyperfantasia, to be staged Wed., May 11.
Employing original music and stunning projected images, Hyperfantasia brings queer cabaret to a new level as audiences are guided through time and space by host Tiresias, the blind prophet of the underworld. Tiresias leads a journey that begins with a re-enactment of the Big Bang as a celestial orgasm, continues with an ode to our unicellular bacterial ancestors on Earth and stages a dance employing the choreography of the mating rituals of birds of paradise.
Evan Silver, who stars as Tiresias, created the show. The show features a guest performance by Xo Carrington and technical production by Andrew Ganem. Silver also wrote and directs the show, and composed the original score.
Hyperfantasia runs for approximately 45 minutes. The show will be performed as a one-night-only special event on Wed. May 11, at 9 p.m. Tickets are available at www.otherworldtheatre.org for $20 each.
NOTE: All attendeesincluding audience members, media, staff and volunteers, and performersare required to show proof of full COVID vaccination or a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of the show date. Additionally, masks are required to be worn over the mouth and nose at all times, unless actively eating or drinking. |
