Current shows we think are hot and soon-to-open shows that should be!
Blind Tasting, Live Bait Theatre, through July 20. Forty years, two countries, three pairs of lovers rent asunder and re-united, and
it's all because of a WINE in this well-crafted romance authored by Sharon Evans and directed by Peter Amster. (Barnidge)
Bounce, Goodman Theatre, through Aug. 10. World premiere musical comedy by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman,
directed by Harold Prince. Good or bad, it's a theatrical event! Richard Kind (Spin City) and movie musical icon Jane Powell are
among the stars. (Abarbanel)
Fifth of July, Griffin Theatre through July 27. Lanford Wilson's 1977 drama is poignant, comic and Chekovian as a Missouri family
grapples with issues like home, loss, and one's place in the world. First-rate direction by Richard Barletta and Jonathan Berry. (Reed)
Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, Artistic Home, through July 20. Five Tennessee bridesmaids bunkered in an upstairs
bedroom dissect the wedding reception progressing below in Alan Ball's (Six Feet Under) look at female bonding. A bravura
production (Barnidge, Reed)
Journey's End, Seanachai Theatre at Breadline, 1802 W. Berenice, through July 5. World War I de-glorified in a manly drama of
British officers in the trenches. This was the height of gritty realism in 1928. Fine cast, excellent direction, superb scenic design.
