Current shows we think are hot!
Dr. Sex, Bailiwick Repertory through Oct. 26 (extension likely). A merry, racy musical comedy about pioneering sex researcher Alfred C. Kinsey, who appears to have practiced what he peeked. Full of toe-tapping tunes and cheeky prurience. (Abarbanel)
The Play About the Baby, Goodman Theatre through Nov. 2. Edward Albee's absurdist trek into a surreal garden of Eden boasts strong ensemble work and a script that entertains, makes us laugh, cringe, and think. (Reed)
The Goat or Who is Sylvia, Goodman Theatre through Nov. 2. Albee's 2002 Pulitzer prize winner might also be called The Play About Beastiality. In spite of the lurid subject matter, this gem manages to make a convincing statement about love…in all its forms. (Reed)
Anna In The Tropics, Victory Gardens Theatre, through Oct 26. Set in the balmy climes of 1929 Florida, Nilo Cruz' Pulitzer Prize-winning tale of passion and yearning seduces us with a romantic sensuality as subtle as the aroma of a fine cigar. (Barnidge)
The Underpants, Noble Fool Theater, through Oct 18. In olden days, a glimpse of stocking ... Steve Martin's witty adaptation of the 1911 German play recounts the changes in a marriage brought about by the wife's accidentally losing her bloomers at a public event. (Barnidge)
