Symphony musicians, management reach deal

Striking Chicago Symphony Orchestra ( CSO ) musicians and management have reached a tentative deal, The Chicago Tribune reported.
The Chicago Federation of Musicians and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association ( CSOA ) jointly issued a statement confirming this development.
"Two days after Mayor Rahm Emanuel offered to mediate the dispute and after a full day of meetings at City Hall, the musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, represented by the Chicago Federation of Musicians ( CFM ) and the [CSOA] have reached tentative agreement on the outlines of a proposed five-year contract," according to the statement.
The musicians had been striking since March 10. WLS-TV reported that the deal includes a 13.25-percent increase in salary and protects their guaranteed retirement benefits, with no increases to the cost of musician health benefits.
