Street Walkin'2

I've taken a couple of weeks off to clear out my 2003 closets, and rev myself up for an exciting 2004 at Nightspots.

JJJ

I received a complaint from someone saying that I used the word "Christmas" in connection with bar parties, instead of the politically correct "Holidays." Sorry about that; I didn't mean to leave out all those drunken Hannukah parties that took place in the bars. My Jewish partner tells me that Hannukah – the Festival of Lights – is more a celebration of the

liberation of the Jewish people, and not so much about getting shitfaced and wearing funny hats in bars. He also told me that Judaism actually meant Judyism, and was the worship of Judy Garland …

Thanks to Brian at the Manhandler for providing my Christmas morning listening with his Christmas 2003 CD. Seasonal songs by everyone from Cyndi Lauper to Gladys Knight. Although, Madonna should have left "Santa Baby" alone; you're fabulous

darling, but don't try to follow Eartha Kitt …

Christmas Day I went to see "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" … 3 1/2 hours of butt-numbing fabulousness. Just to prove what a sick bitch I am, I actually got the hots for one of the Orcs.

JJJ

Is Jackhammer still doing their once a month open mic with Music Bear? Anyway, it was there that I bumped into the very talented Aaron Frankel who has one of the most haunting voices I've ever heard. His CD is called "Immersion" and I have no idea where you can buy it. Maybe he'll let me know …

JJJ

What's this I hear about a certain drag show promoter hanging out in the darker areas of a new-North leather bar? Looks like she's fully recovered from her recent

surgery …

I've got spies, bitch …

And keep your hands off those bartenders, they're mine. No, I won't tell you who spilled the beans. I never reveal my sources.

JJJ

I forgot to mention that at the Manhandler Christmas Party, Jerry, the owner, gave away two checks: 1) $1500 to Chi-Town Squares & 2) $1500 to the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus.

Jerry's boyfriend is a cutie.

Uh huh! … Hi Scott!! Any

gossip?

JJJ

The cover model this week is Nightspots columnist and club DJ Peter Mavrik; look out for him at Spin on Fridays and alternate Thursdays at @mosphere.

He's Greek … oh yeah … all over. If you want him to come visit and write about your club, he can be reached at petermavrik@hotmail.com

JJJ

While we're on DJ's, a message to DJ Kevin Bernal at Jackhammer … just in case I don't see you. Sorry I didn't get your voicemail until after Christmas … do you still want that cover? (It was pretty fabulous, right? graysong does good covers).

E-mail me at Sukie@

windycitymediagroup.com

That goes for anyone. I pay more attention to e-mails than phone calls.
