Brock seems like a nice guy. He was dancing at Different Strokes when I was there taking pictures last week. ( Hey, sweetheart, you gave me the wrong e-mail address. So write to me at sukiedelacroix@ozhasspoken ) .

Israel and I headed down to Transit ( 1431 W. Lake ) for the Hearts Foundation "Hearts in Transit 2" with DJs Mark Vallese and Neil Lewis from San Francisco. The proceeds went to benefit Hearts Foundation's Take Pride in Yourself program for AIDS prevention and personal health responsibility.
Described as a "Tea Dance," the event was from 6 p.m.-1:30 a.m., which seems reasonable for a Sunday night; most people have a job to go to on Monday morning.
Israel, who knows about these things, said the music was excellent. Sometimes we go to these things and he says, "This music is crap." How would I know?! I know nothing about dance music. I wouldn't recognize progressive house if it jumped up and bit me in the ass. It all sounds the same to me. I'm more into Rammstein at the moment...German heavy metal wakes me up in the morning.
And so, not being my kind of music...coupled with the fact that I'm way too old to throw my tired old ass around the dancefloor...I judge these events as an outsider. I'm just the old guy taking the pictures.
I have to say, though, I'm really fascinated by the images and energy of men's circuit parties. Large women's parties have a different energy altogether. Both are sexual, but men are more primal ... or maybe it's the male scent that interests my animal instincts more.
Most of the guys look exactly the same; jeans, stripped to the waist, muscular chest, tattoos etc. The dancing is very tribal ... trance, hypnotic ... then you throw hallucinogenics into the mix. I'm sure I'm the last person to realize this, but aren't circuit parties just pagan ...or at least pre-Christian...festivals.
I guess what I'm saying is, don't you think that to be truly pagan the next Hearts Party should be in the desert, naked and boys only. Like 2,000 men wearing nothing but tattoos and ankle bracelets. And ... can I cum?

Have you been to the Queen's Kitchen yet? It's two doors north of Montrose on Clark. The big queen in residence is Marty from Hotspots. A word we don't hear much in the gay community these days is "camp." The Queen's Kitchen is very campy, with Divine and Wong Fu posters on the wall. Even the scary Miss Tee looks down over the crowds. The Queen's Kitchen could be Chicago's first drag queen restaurant.
It's one half of what used to be Lolita's, so the building is no stranger to the art of female impersonation. It's a fabulous little place. I happened to fall in through the door one night as the show was about to begin.
Gina was performing...that's Gina from Different Strokes and the Mashed Potato Club. Another highlight was Miss Ronnie from Circuit.
Oh and the food's real good; I went back the next night for dinner.

I may as well smash up the TV now that Six Feet Under has gone. No new episodes of Queer As Folk, Sopranos or Oz. Now we're back to, as Frank Zappa put it, "slime oozing out of the TV set."
