If they find me up an alley somewhere beaten to a pulp, it will either be the work of Teri Yaki, Demanda Bump, or Frida Lay, or all three. I just can't seem to spell their names right in this column. In fact, is it Teri Yaki or Terri Yaki?

When I first heard about the Windy City Media Group (which includes Nightspots) sponsoring a Big Goddess POW WOW at Circuit, I was seriously considering smoking crack. The word Goddess in connection with lesbians makes me ill. I thought it was going to be one of those Circa 1970s lesbian, feminist, men-hating nightmare events.
Wrong! I actually had a really good time. (Hi Cin, graysong is working on that cover.) Circuit, which has the ability to adjust to any crowd, was set up as an intimate nightclub, and the event was more like a cabaret. And there were men there!! Quite a few, including the multi-talented Dave Awl of Neo and several other projects fame.

Another event we sponsored was the Windy City Gay Idol at Star Gaze with Creaoke (Looks like a fag to me), which turned out to be a huge success!! Frank with his 'Proud Mary' should have won, but that's just me. The audience decides and they were all wrong. Fuck the lot of you. I'm not bitter. See you all at the next Windy City Gay Idol event. See ads.

Another fun event I went to was the Bucks 20th Anniversary party, where Kirk took so many good pictures I'm going to have to spread them out over three weeks. OK so they'll be out of date, but HEY! … this is Nightspots i.e. we can do whatever we like. And Bucks does have the best patio in Boystown. Open soon.

Well, what can you say, they've done it again; the Royal Imperial Sovereign Barony of the Windy City had their Dragocious 2003 at the Baton and it was fabulous. It was great to see Gina and Miss Rhodesia performing together, Sierra Montana is just a sweetheart, and Baroness II. Fabiola staggering around the stage with a cocktail was a showstopper.
The performers in the above paragraph do not necessarily spell their names the way I've spelt them. In fact, anytime I mention a drag queen just assume I've spelt the name wrong.
While we're on the Baton. Hi Jerry!! Thanks for your kind words about Nightspots.
And don't forget the upcoming Barony show at Clarks on Clark Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. It's called Whirlwind.
Clarks on Clark has become the new cool place to hang out in.

Hot Tips: Don't forget the Friday night Purgatory Dance Party with DJ Kevin Bernal at Jackhammer. Hi Kevin, I'm glad we talked the other night, it made me feel better about the situation. Don't forget the Chicago Beef dancers and all the other events at the 'Hammer. And if you see Darren MCing something up there just go because he's the funniest MC in town. I love him.
