Have you been to Dixon's restaurant and bar yet? Elegant, intimate and fabulous!! It's perfect for taking a date out of the city for a romantic dinner and a cocktail.

I was really impressed with the décor, 168lb chain mail curtain that divided the bar, and the movie queens that adorned the wall. Oh and the waiters looked so cute in their uniforms. The food was … unbelievable!! I'm vegetarian, but Kirk, graysong, and Phil Lasheo were food-tasters for the meat and fish.

PLUS: If you're a city person who works out there in Oakbrook or the nearby 'burbs, Dixon's is a good place to stop off for a cocktail on the way home. The Nightspots crowd fell in love with the place.

This is definitely the decade for the 'burbs. The recent Miss Gay Joliet contest was wild!! I mean WILD!! Who knew all this was going on? A lot of people came out from the city, ILGRA were there, Ambrosia Salad looked stunning, the gorgeous Deja—I went weak at the knees when I saw her boyfriend; hang on to him girl!!

Thanks to Ryan and Micah for making us feel so welcome, and Joe from WCMG who hooked us up with these wonderful fun people. And where the hell did that 10ft Nightspots banner come from? Is that ours? I didn't know we had one.

I didn't get his name, well I did but I forgot it, but the DJ was a scream. And congratulations to Jade for becoming Miss Gay Joliet. A star is born.

+++

The Miss Chicago Continental contest at the Baton was just exquisite; but what else would you expect from the Mother of all female impersonation bars? Mimi Marks was the MC and without doubt she's the best in the business. Great show. Hi Jerry!! One of my favorite bartenders. See thebatonshowlounge.com

+++

I couldn't get to the opening of Hydrate, because I was elsewhere taking pictures—I can't be everywhere kids!! However, Kirk went and I hear good things about the bar. To the owners: Good luck with your new enterprise and thanks for bringing a much-needed fresh face to Halsted Street.

+++

Remember the winter? Don't miss the summer patio scene in the city at Bucks, Jackhammer, Star Gaze and Different Strokes. I'm not sure if Madrigal's uses their patio, but who the hell wants to sit outside with the dancers that Juan finds …

… Juan has an eye for talent.

PLUS: For men who like men, the Manhandler has their buffet every Sunday at 6 p.m. I'm usually there for that. Hey, great company, fun bartenders, and free food … you kiddin' … I'm there.

+++

Nothing packs out a bar like the Chicago Kings, and Circuit is a big bar to pack. But they did it for their Pride show. It's almost redundant to say the Kings put on a great show, because their shows are ALWAYS great.

+++

Some of the Nightspots gang headed out to the Latin-flavored Legacy 21—the oldest gay-owned bar in the city, it opened in 1960—to see the wonderful Andres De Los Santos show. I think this particular King is appearing there once a month, but don't quote me … look for ads in Nightspots.

+++

Would someone from Lola's please call Kirk at the office, I'm having Petzy withdrawal symptoms.

+++

Hot Tips: There's plenty of cool stuff going on and it's all in Nightspots; a tacky little bar rag that's all about fabulous people. And all of you are fabulous.
