More than 35 teams competed in five divisions of the first Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association softball tournament last weekend.
The event, with games in Joliet and at Chicago's Waveland fields, is the continuation of the Blowout tourney that used to be hosted by
the Windy City Athletic Association. Because WCAA does not have softball this season, CMSA is now host of the tournament, which
attracts teams from around the U.S.
Three teams competed in the A division, with San Diego Augoron taking first and Minneapolis Bandits in second.
In the 10-team B Division, Chicago's Spin took first, followed by Boston Club Cafe Crew and Sidetrack.
The C side was divided into competitive (10 teams) and recreational (nine teams). In competitive, Chicago Hunters took first,
followed by Chicago Charlie's and San Diego Abbey Saints. In recreational, Chicago Buddies' took first, with Chicago Little Dog
Properties in second and Chicago Spin in third.
In the five-team D division, Chicago Bucks finished on top, followed by Chicago Buckshots and Milwaukee Kosmos.
The Buddies' team will be representing Chicago in the D Division at the NAGAAA Softball World Series in D.C. next month. The
Nubians are among the women's teams headed to D.C., along with the Buddies' women.
