Tennis Star: 'Obvious'
I'm Not Gay
Richard Gasquet, a French pro tennis player who recently lost in the semifinals of Wimbledon to eventual champion Roger Federer, is denying reports that he is gay.
According to Outsports.com, Gasquet, 21, was asked by the French magazine Le Point about rumors that he was having an affair with married businessman Arnaud Lagardere, 46. Gasquet responded, 'I was absolutely not happy about that. This question has come back hundreds of times, and every time someone turns up saying, 'Oh, I have evidence.' It is just bullshit. Neither him nor me are homosexuals. It's absolutely obvious.'
Former Athlete ( and Current TV Star )
Admits to Gay Play
Nick Starcevic, a muscular former college and pro football player who is currently one of the contestants on TV's Big Brother 8, has admitted to some same-sex action—and has committed some on the show as well, according to Towleroad.com .
Starcevic recently said that he has performed oral sex on a guy. In addition, he has been spotted spooning Joe, one half of the gay former couple that is also competing on the show. Some people contend that Starcevic is merely working an angle; however, others feel that there may be more than meets the eye.
Baseball Team Attacked for Including Gays
The Thomas More Law Center—a self-described 'public-interest law firm dedicated to the defense and promotion of the religious freedom of Christians'—has joined a California ministry in criticizing the San Diego Padres pro baseball team for letting a gay-pride organization purchase tickets for the team's July 8 game against the Atlanta Braves, according to The Los Angeles Times. Incidentally, the Padres distributed free hats to children 14 and younger.
Before the game, the law center's president, Richard Thompson, said that ' [ t ] he Padres are playing the part of the Pied Piper leading unsuspecting children into the homosexual lifestyle as normal.' However, Ron deHarte, executive director of San Diego LGBT Pride ( which bought the tickets ) , said the law center's statement 'is just a shield for the homophobic, anti-gay message they're trying to get out.'
Initially, a California ministry said that its members would not work the concession stands as a stand against homosexuality.
Approximately 75 protesters showed up dressed in red T-shirts that read 'Save Our Kids,' according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The official attendance for the game was 41,026; the capacity of the ballpark is 42,685.
The San Diego Gay Men's Chorus sang the national anthem for the game.
