The Chicago Force, Chicago's premiere professional women's tackle football team, has a new home field and is in a different division of the 32-team IWFL, but by all appearances seems unfazed by all the change.
The team started out its second year pretty much like its first ... they slaughtered their competition. Approximately 300 fans braved the weather as winter made one of its final grasps on Chicago on Saturday, April 3. Bundled and huddled under blankets during the season opener, the fans were warm inside. With a final score of 50-0 against the Des Moines Courage, the Force has a strong lead in charging towards another winning season.
Chicago's defense was so strong that Des Moines didn't make a first down until well into the final quarter. Early indicators predict the Force with a final season record of 6-2.
Now in the highly competitive Mid-Atlantic Division, they will face the perennial powerhouse New York Sharks. The Chicago Force plans to defy the odds and round out its second year pretty much like it's first … undefeated.
The fifty-seven players, the coaches, management, and support staff invite everyone to the three remaining home games at St. Rita's Doyle Stadium – 7740 S Western Ave. For more information, contact the Force at www.chicagoforcefootball.com .
