Sports: Frontrunners and Windy City Cycling Join Forces

On Saturday, April 3, Frontrunners/ Frontwalkers and the Windy City Cycling Club will jointly produce the largest Season Kick Off Party in either club's history.
'We've enjoyed a close relationship for many years' said event organizer Bill Barrett of FR/FW. 'A lot of our members belong to both clubs. Having one party to kick off both of our seasons was a natural choice.'
For this first joint Kick Off party, Sidetrack has offered both groups exclusive use of the Main Bar, the Cherry Bar and the new 'Cherry Pit.' The event will feature a continuous slide show of last year's events, a cash bar, and is sponsored in part by the Hearty Boys Cafe.
There will be a brief presentation by the presidents of both clubs, followed by a special preview from representatives of Gay Games VII. 'We're looking forward to giving members of both Frontrunners and the Windy City Cycling Club a sneak preview of the running and cycling events' said Dennis Sneyers of Chicago Games Inc., the organization that won the bid to bring the Gay Games to Chicago in 2006. 'We expect to see the memberships of both organizations swell over the next few years as the excitement surrounding the Gay Games builds.'
Admission is free with new or renewed memberships of either club. A $5 donation is suggested for guests. The Kick Off party is from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, with presentations at 7 p.m., 3349 N. Halsted. This is a smoke-free event. |
