The Chicago Sky have acquired Jordan Hooper and a 2018 first-round draft pick from the Atlanta Dream in exchange for Tamera Young, Imani Boyette and Chicago's second-round pick.
Hooper, a 6-2 forward from Nebraska, was selected 13th overall in the 2014 WNBA Draft by the Tulsa Shock. The 2014 Big Ten Player of the Year appeared in 100 games for the Shock/Dallas Wings with seven career starts, and most recently appeared in 15 games for the Dream, averaging 6.2 mpg ( minutes per game ) and shooting .372 from the field
Boyette, in her second year with the Sky, was drafted with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 draft, and is averaging 15.5 mpg and 4.6 ppg in 53 games.
Boyette, along with openly gay former NBA player Jason Collins, recently spoke at the "Facing Adversity Through Sports" panel; ex-NBA player Stephen Bardo moderated the event.
Earlier this year, in an open letter to retired WNBA player Candice Wiggins, Boyette said that Wiggins dwelled on sexuality-related stereotypes regarding the league's athletes, the Chicago Tribune reported. Wiggins, who last played in the WNBA two years ago, told the San Diego Union-Tribune that she was bullied because she is straight.
Boyette is married to Paul Boyette Jr. Her mother, Pamela McGee, played in the WNBA and she also won two national championships at the University of Southern California ( along with twin sister Paula ) as well as a gold medal in the 1984 Olympics.
