CHICAGO The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce the addition of the iconic MGM musical Singin' in the Rain on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 8 p.m. to complete its 2012/13 Friday Night at the Movies series.
Starring film and dance legends Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds, the 1952 internationally praised film Singin' in the Rain joins the 2012/13 series with Disney Fantasia — Live in Concert (November 23) and Hitchcock at the Movies: A Symphonic Celebration (March 8). This in-demand series features films projected above the CSO, with a live performance of the score by the Orchestra. Conducting two of the three in the series is renowned film score conductor Richard Kaufman (March 8; May 17). Ludwig Wicki, known for conducting classical to popular and film scores, conducts Disney Fantasia — Live in Concert (November 23).
