Senate confirms gay man as Air Force under secretary

(Washington, DC) Army veteran and OutServe-SLDN Executive Director Allyson Robinson today released the following statement regarding the confirmation of Eric Fanning as Undersecretary of the Air Force:

"OutServe-SLDN applauds the nomination and confirmation of Eric Fanning, who becomes the Undersecretary of the Air Force and the second-highest civilian official within the Department of the Air Force. This appointment is yet another example of this Administration's commitment to affirming the contributions and service of the LGBT community and underscores the new reality of open gay and lesbian service in our ranks. We look forward to working with him to advance the cause of full military equality."
