Chicago, IL- Today, Cook County Commissioner and 4th Congressional District candidate Jesus "Chuy" Garcia announced that Senator Bernie Sanders will be joining him at a rally at the historic Apollos 2000 in the Marshall Square neighborhood on the Southwest side of Chicago on Thursday, Feb. 22nd. Doors open at 2:00 PM for a 4:00 PM rally.
Sen. Bernie Sanders endorsed Chuy Garcia days after he declared his candidacy, saying "Chuy Garcia is the right person at the right time for the work we have ahead of us. He is ready and willing to stand up and fight for the working families of Chicago and our nation and take on the powerful special interests who have far too much power over the economic and political life of our country."
Commissioner Garcia said, "Bernie Sanders is a champion for the working people of America. But he can't do it alone. I am running for Congress to join Bernie in fighting for a $15 minimum wage, Medicare for All, free college tuition, and protecting DACA recipients."
Commissioner Garcia is one of three Congressional candidates Senator Bernie Sanders has so far endorsed. Chuy, along with a slate of Progressive candidates including Aaron Ortiz ( 1st State District ), Delia Ramirez ( 4th State District ), Alma Anaya ( Cook County Commissioner, 7th District ) and Brandon Johnson ( Cook County Commissioner, 1st District ), have all been endorsed by Our Revolution Illinois, the grassroots advocacy organization that grew out of Bernie Sanders' presidential run.
