... Those of you who know me personally know that I hate children. And, that although I hate children, I rather enjoy children's television. I am the only adult I know who can sit through an entire Teletubbies show and laugh during the whole thing. I'm also a huge fan of Sesame Street. Elmo just tickles me to death. This is why I am very, very sad to learn of the death of Michael Jeter. Now, most of you saw Michael Jeter in The Green Mile (he was the fellow who befriended the mouse) and in a few other movies. He was a well-known and versatile actor. He was also out of the closet, bless his heart.
As I was reading his obit, I kept thinking that he looked familiar to me for some reason. Then, in the aforementioned obit, I discovered why. Michael Jeter was Mr. Noodle! As anyone who watches Sesame Street knows, there usually is a segment of the show called 'Elmo's World.' During 'Elmo's World,' there is always a visit to Mr. Noodle, a somewhat spastic fellow who helps Elmo learn more about whatever subject he happens to be talking about that day. I've always thought that the guy doing Mr. Noodle must be gay but I never knew for sure until now. I mean, only a gay man could change characters and moods that quickly, and still have it be a learning experience. And, you know me, I'm always trying to pick up on the dirty subtext that even the writers of the show don't realize they've put forth.
Like, one time Elmo was talking about the telephone, and Mr. Noodle was trying to figure out what to do with this thing and it led to Elmo telling Mr. Noodle: 'No, it doesn't go in there Mr. Noodle!' Well, you had to be there. Anyway, I for one, will miss this man ...
... And what is all this talk about a gay cable channel? Have you ever watched the Discovery Channel during the daytime? Honey, it don't get much gayer than that! Along with Miss Christopher Lloyd, now there is some queen that likes to redecorate your house when you're not there and then scream 'Surprise!!!' at you when you get home. Somebody let me know if they need any old, nelly queens who happen to be brown of skin. I could always use a second job ...
... Speaking of jobs, in my next column, I've got a humdinger of a tale about the way I heard someone lost one ...
... By the way, I'm so glad that it's flip-flop weather again. Boy watching is so much more exciting then ...
