The popular gay nightspot Scot's, 1829 W. Montrose, is back on track after having to close for a month due to a water-main break and subsequent sinkhole that developed in late January.
'We were closed one solid month—from the 21st [ of January ] to the 21st [ of February ] ,' manager Dan Gamboney told Windy City Times. When asked if the process to restore the bar was massive, he quickly responded, 'Oh, yeah. Between robberies and subcontractors, we finally did it. ( According to Gamboney, Scot's was robbed twice during its reconstruction period. )
Gamboney added that Scot's is back to 100 percent capacity, and anticipated packed houses for the upcoming Easter weekend ( with its famed omelet bar and Easter bonnet contest ) and for baseball's opening day, March 31.
Gamboney also expressed his gratitude to 'the entire gay community' for helping the nightspot through its recent rough patch. 'We're getting something together,' he said. |
