The team has switched divisions this year, to the Mid-Atlantic Division, where they will be up against the feared New York Sharks ... one of the dominant teams in all of women's football. The matchup has all the makings of a great rivalry. The I.W.F.L. ( www.iwflsports.com ) is getting bigger and better. This year, the league is up to 30 teams from throughout the nation ... and will likely grow in the coming months. 'We've also introduced a new game ball designed especially for us by Nike. Associated Press reports that Detroit Lions football president and general manager Matt Millen apologized for an inflammatory comment he made to Kansas City's Johnnie Morton after the Chiefs' 45-17 win. Millen said he was talking with some Kansas City players and coaches outside their locker room when he had the exchange with Morton, who Millen had cut after the 2001 season. 'I tried to wish him the best and congratulate him as well,' Millen said in a statement released by the Lions. 'When I called out to him, he just kept walking and then he made a derogatory remark toward me, which really upset me. Unfortunately, I retaliated with a derogatory term directed toward Johnnie. I apologize if I offended anyone. 'What he said is demeaning and bigoted,' Morton told The Kansas City Star. 'Jeremy Shockey got in trouble for saying it about a coach ( Bill Parcells ) , and now we have a president of a team making statements like that. It's totally unacceptable. I have gay friends, and I don't even joke around with them like that.' Last summer, Shockey was quoted during an interview as calling Parcells a 'homo.'
