DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 36 points while Zach LaVine added 27. Nikola Vucevic had 15 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks.
Only 14 games after assuming the role, rookie Ayo Dosunmu became the third Bulls point guard to be sidelined with an injury in the past month, according to The Chicago Tribune. Dosunmu was placed in concussion protocol Feb. 8 after a pair of head-on collisions against the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 6. With Alex Caruso (wrist) and Lonzo Ball (knee) also sidelined until March, Coby White started at point guard against the Hornets.
The Bulls next take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, Feb. 11, and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, Feb. 12. Both games will be at the United Center.
In Edmonton on Feb. 9, the Chicago Blackhawks (17-23-7) defeated the Oilers (23-18-3) 4-1, ending a three-game skid.
All-Star Alex DeBrincat scored the game's opening goal and added a pair of primary assists in the victory. Marc-Andre Fleury made 40 stops on 41 shots in his 13th start over the last 14 games.
Next, the Blackhawks will travel to St. Louis to take on the Blues on Saturday, Feb. 12.
