LGBTQ+ activist Gary Chichester threw the first pitch of the gamewhich featured the White Sox taking on the Cincinnati Redsat Guaranteed Rate field. BMO Harris invited Chichester, who will be Legacy Grand Marshal at the 2022 Chicago Pride Parade, to toss the pitch.
Drag personality Shea Coulee also pitched, while actor/singer Sawyer Smith sang the national anthem.
In early June, Windy City Times reported that the Chicago Cubs were the only local MLB team slated to have a Pride Night, per an Outsports article. WCT reached out to the White Sox, but never received a response.
By the way, the White Sox defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-1. The White Sox have qualified for the playoffs, and will face the Houston Astros in a best-of-five series starting Thursday, Oct. 7, at Houston.
