The Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, a part of the WTA (Women's Tennis Association) tour, is in town through Oct. 3.
Just a few of the players in the first round, or round of 64, are top seed and Ukrainian player Elena Svitolina; Italian competitor Camila Giorgi; U.S. players Jessica Pegula, Coco Vandeweghe and Danielle Collins; longtime Belgian player Kim Clijsters; Swiss athlete Belinda Bencic; Chinese Taipei player Hsieh Su-Wei (who defeated Venus Williams in the Chicago Women's Open Tournament in late August); and Spanish athlete Garbine Muguruza.
The tournament, like the Chicago Women's Open event, is part of the Chicago Tennis Festival. This event is also at XS Tennis and Education Foundation, 5336 S. State St.
