RJ Barrett scored 28 points and Alec Burks had 27 for the Knicks, who managed to hold off the Bulls. DeMar DeRozan scored 37 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, per ESPN. However, he missed a jumper and then was called for an offensive foul in the final 45 seconds, cutting short Chicago's comeback attempt.
Zach LaVine added 27 points but Chicago fell into a tie with Toronto for the fifth-best record in the East.
The game took place on the 27th anniversary of Michael Jordan's "double nickel" game, one of the most famous Bulls-Knicks matchups. Just nine days after returning from retirement, Jordan scored 55 points in Chicago's 113-111 victory at Madison Square Garden on March 28, 1995.
Chicago next visits Washington on Tuesday, March 29.
The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Buffalo Sabres 6-5 at the United Center on March 28.
Both teams now have identical records: 24-33-10.
For the second consecutive game, the Blackhawks lost after having a large lead. This time, Chicago actually was ahead by four goals at one point, but Buffalo battled back.
Five different Blackhawks scored on the night: Calvin de Haan, Sam Lafferty, Jonathan Toews, Seth Jones and Alex DeBrincat. Kevin Lankinen made his third start in the last four games, stopping 31 shots on 37 shots in the loss.
