With their offense and defense working together, the Chicago Bears (6-10) jumped to a quick 14-0 lead and cruised to a 29-3 drubbing of the New York Giants (4-12).
"They didn't let up all day," said quarterback Andy Dalton, who passed for 173 yards with one touchdown, one interception and a 63.2 passer rating in his first start since Dec. 5 against the Cardinals, according to a Bears media report.
One record-breaking highlight took place during the Bears' home finale. With a sack of Giants quarterback Mike Glennon midway through the fourth quarter, Robert Quinn set the Bears' single-season sack record. With his 18th sack of the season, he eclipsed the 17.5 that Hall of Fame inductee Richard Dent amassed in 1984.
The Bears will end their season Sunday, Jan. 9, at 12 p.m. CT at the Minnesota Vikings.
After losing to Nashville 6-1 on Jan. 1, the Chicago Blackhawks' woeful streak continued the following night as they fell 5-1 to the Calgary Flames (17-7-6).
Alex DeBrincat netted the first goal at the United Center of 2022 for the Hawks (11-17-4), giving Chicago the lead at 1-0. However, the Blackhawks then allowed Calgary to score the next five.
The Blackhawks remain at home to host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
