Juanna Rumbel was named the 2009 Skull and Crossbones Award winner at the annual end-of-the season awards ceremonydubbed the Black & Blue Ballfor the Windy City Rollers, held earlier this month at Reggie's Rock Club, 2109 S. State.
Rumbel's award is presented annually to the person who most exemplifies the heart and soul of the Windy City Rollers, someone who is always ready to volunteer at any chance.
In addition, Ruth Enasia and Loco Chanel were named the Seltzer Commissioner Award-winners, as leaders both on and off the track, helping promote the league and the sport at home and across the nation ) .
And, Varla Vendetta and Malice With Chains were named the co-Tequila Mockingbird Award winners, presented to those who most embody the spirit of a fighter, full of determination and drive.
"The Windy City Rollers held our annual Black & Blue Ball to celebrate our achievements of the past season," said WCR's Kim Nelson a.k.a. Slammah Montana. "Each year all of our league members vote for who we think are our strongest skaters, sharpest refs, and most dedicated support staff, among many others, and honor them with an awards ceremony. Congrats to all of our 2009 award recipients."
