Rogers Park Pride, also known as Rogers Park Pride Gay and Lesbian Neighborhood Association, is apparently folding
In an e-mail sent to members, the board only stated that: 'Due to unfortunate circumstances, the organization has been dissolved.
May all of the neighbors of this vibrant community come together for the betterment of Rogers Park.'
Windy City Times could not get a response from the Pride phone number or individual board members.
Co-founder Jim Yeaman, who was pushed out of the group, said this is a 'sad' event. 'What's even more disheartening is the fact
that this should have never happened had the leadership of the organization discharged its responsibilities in a manner consistent
with the bylaws. The membership (and the IRS) deserves to know what you've done with the assets of the organization,' Yeaman
said in an e-mail to the board.
Rogers Park Pride had gone through a controversial year, including the board's endorsement of Michael Harrington for alderman
without a review process or input from the group's membership. Harrington had been an officer of the group.
The baggage associated with that decision, as well as a possible lack of volunteers or leaders stepping forward, apparently
caused the group's demise.
