The Chicago Red Stars won for the first time since October 2020, beating Kansas City 2-0 in front of more than 5,000 fans at Legends Field in Kansas City on May 26.
After a scoreless first half, second-half goals from Kealia Watt and Makenzy Doniak made the difference. Doniak made her first start of the regular season for the Red Stars, having 44 touches and 20 passes as well as tying the team lead in shots, with four.
The Red Stars won without Julie Ertz, who is still out with a knee injury, according to On Tap Sports Net.
