The Chicago Red Stars announced the signing of Ella Stevens.
The club selected Stevens with the 24th pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft. She made her first appearance for the Red Stars on a short-term contract during the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup.
As a junior, Stevens played in all 17 games for the Duke Blue Devils, making 14 starts. She led the team with ten assists, putting her 27th for her career, fourth all-time in Duke women's soccer history, and second in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Stevens was added shortly before the Red Stars dropped their Fall Series finale to Sky Blue FC 3-1 on Oct. 10. Arin Wright and Casey Short made their Fall Series debuts; Morgan Gautrat scored in the second half.
And in other Red Stars news, the U.S. Women's National Team ( USWNT ) announced its roster for their training camp to be held Oct. 18-28, which saw Tierna Davidson, Gautrat, Sarah Gorden, Alyssa Naeher, Short and Kealia Watt all named to the USWNT camp. With six representatives, the Red Stars have the most players on an NWSL roster to be named to a National Team camp at a single time. |
