Red Stars join WPSL
The Chicago Red Stars has announced that it is joining the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) for the 2011 season, according to a press release.
The Red Stars played during the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league's 2009 and 2010 seasons; however, the team took a hiatus from WPS to shore up its investment group.
Two home games take place on July 2 and 10 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex, 5700 College, Lisle. The full 2011 WPSL schedule and roster additions will be announced soon.

Bensenville April 30
"Ice Dreams Starring Johnny Weir" is returning to The Edge Ice Arena, 735 E. Jefferson, Bensenville, on Saturday, April 30. This year's show will feature 100 young local skaters in a group number. The *Future Stars* were chosen to participate in the show through live and web auditions.
Weira three-time U.S. national champion, two-time Olympian and world medalist who recently officially came outwill be joined on the ice by other elite skaters, including two Chicago-area natives; world junior bronze medalist Agnes Zawadski of Des Plaines and ice-dance Olympian Melissa Gregory of Northfield. U.S. silver medalist Brandon Mroz will also be among those skating.
Ice Dreams will donate $1 of every ticket sold to the Japanese Red Cross in support of the relief effort. There also will be a silent auction held the night of the show, with all auction proceeds to be donated to the Japanese Red Cross. For more information visit www.icedreamstour.com .
Chicago Sky open
tryouts May 8
Women's professional basketball team the Chicago Sky is holding open tryouts Sunday, May 8, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Sachs Recreation Center, 455 Lake Cook, Deerfield.
Registration is $100 and includes a Sky practice jersey, a gift bag and a ticket to any 2011 Sky regular-season home game. A portion of the registration fee will be donated to Sky Cares, a foundation that supports the Sky's mission of building girls' self-esteem and providing girls and young women with positive mentors.
Those trying out must have graduated from college and must be at least 20 years of old, wwith two years of professional playing experience.
