On Feb. 4, the Republican National Committee (RNC) censured U.S. Reps. Liz Cheney (Wyoming) and Adam Kinzinger (Illinois) for opposing Donald Trump and probing the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.
Cheney and Kinzinger are the only Republicans on the House committee investigating the violent mob of Trump supporters last year.
Per USA Today, the RNC resolutionpassed at a meeting in Salt Lake Citysaid the two were participating in "a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse."
The resolution also accused Cheney and Kinzinger of engaging in "behavior which has been destructive to the institution of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Republican Party, and our republic."
Former Vice President Mike Pence called out his former boss by name on Feb. 4, saying "President [Donald] Trump is wrong" in claiming Pence had the right to overturn the 2020 election on Jan. 6, 2021, according to CNN.
