The Leather Archives and Museum: The Leather Archives & Museum is a library, museum and archives pertaining to Leather, fetishism, sadomasochism, and alternative sexual practices. The geographic collection scope is worldwide and includes all sexual orientations and genders. The library collection contains published books, magazines, scholarly publications, films and electronic resources related to the subject matter. The museum collection contains original erotic art and artifacts from alternative sex organizations and individuals. The archival collection contains unpublished papers and records from notable activists, artists, businesses and organizations related to the subject matter.
The Critical Fierceness Grant: Since its founding in 2005, Chances Dances has sought to create a safe space for all gender expressions by bringing together the varied LGBTIQ communities of Chicago. The creation of the Critical Fierceness grant expands upon this goal by offering a unique opportunity for queer artistic expression. Individuals or groups who wish to utilize the Critical Fierceness Grant for artistic purposes and who identify themselves or their work as queer are encouraged to apply. The Critical Fierceness Grant supports queer artists with financial assistance of up to $500.
Who We Are: Que(e)ry began in June 2010 as a spinoff of The Desk Set, an informal group of librarians, archivists, library science students and others who love books and occasionally throw fundraising parties for libraries and nonprofit organizations whose missions support literacy and culture. Que(e)ry aims to promote awareness for nonprofit libraries and archives with collections and services related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and two spirit rights, heritage, and literature. Que(e)ry has held nine successful parties to benefit such organizations across the country, including the Lesbian Herstory Archives, the Tom of Finland Foundation, the LGBT Community Center Library in NYC, the Queer Zine Archive Project, the Gerber/Hart Library and Archives, and the Transgender Foundation of America Archives.
