Chicago ( March 11, 2015 ) Proud to Run is pleased to announce that registration is now open for its 2015 Proud to Run 10k run and 5k run/walk June 27, and that the organization has selected Affinity Community Services, AIDS Legal Council of Chicago, and Chicago House as beneficiaries of its annual race. Since 1982, Proud to Run has raised more than $400,000 for local LGBTQ organizations.

About the beneficiaries
The three organizations that will benefit from 2015 race entrants and sponsors were selected from a diverse group of 14 applicants; Affinity Community Services and AIDS Legal Council of Chicago are first-time beneficiaries while Chicago House has been involved in past Proud to Run races.
Affinity Community Services
Affinity is a social justice organization that works with and on behalf of Black LGBTQ communities; queer youth; and allies to identify emergent needs, create safe spaces, develop leaders, and bridge communities through collective analysis and action for social justice, freedom, and human rights.
AIDS Legal Council of Chicago
Founded in 1988, AIDS Legal Council of Chicago uses the power of the law to secure health, dignity, and stability for people with HIV, individuals facing homelessness, and children with chronic illnesses.
Chicago House
Chicago House and Social Service Agency serves individuals and families who are disenfranchised by HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ marginalization, poverty, homelessness, and/or gender nonconformity by providing housing, employment services, medical linkage and retention services, HIV prevention services, legal services, and other supportive programs.
Information will be available in September for organizations interested in applying to be a beneficiary of the 2016 Proud to Run race.
About Proud to Run
Proud to Run is an annual 10K run and 5K run/walk along the lakefront that's been a part of Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Pride Week activities since 1982. PTR is focused on celebrating pride in an active and healthy way, raising funds to benefit the greater Chicago-area LGBTQ community; 16 nonprofits have received more than $400,000 during the last 33 years. In 2012, PTR was inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame.
The event is USA Track and Field certified, a Chicago Area Runners Association registered race, and presented in association with Frontrunners/Frontwalkers Chicago.
PTR is organized by an all-volunteer, community-based board and is a federal 501( c )( 3 ) organization.
